Health, Safety and Environmental

Keeping our workers safe, our communities healthy and our natural resources protected is of utmost importance to NASSCO and we express this in everything we do. NASSCO’s Health and Safety Committee provides support to all other NASSCO Committees to ensure safety is always front and center, including Styrene Safety, Confined Space Entry, PPE and Traffic Control.

  • Confined Space Entry

Employers must establish procedures and methods in accordance with OSHA for safe entry into confined spaces. Sanitary sewer manholes require a written confined space entry permit due to the hazardous characteristics.

  • Fall Protection

Employers must set up the workplace to prevent employees from falling off of overhead platforms, elevated stations or into manholes. During confined space entry employers must ensure all equipment is in compliance with OSHA – tripod, self-retracting lanyards (SRL’s), harnesses etc.
