PACP User Recertification-Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often do I need to be recertified?

A: PACP Certification is valid for three years.

Q: My PACP certification is about to lapse. How do I get recertified?

A: Recertification can be done in three ways. The first is by going to nassco.org, logging in and self registering for the training through the course catalog.

The second is by choosing a PACP recertification course from the training calendar or contacting a Master Trainer in your area. Click here for a list of Master Trainers.

The third way is to attend the 2-day PACP course as if a brand new user.

Q: How do I know if my recertification is about to lapse?

A: PACP Certification is valid for three years. Within 6 months of your certification expiration date, you will get an email notification. If you are unsure about the status, please email the NASSCO Office.

Q: Can I get Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for taking the PACP Recertification Course?

A: There are 0.8 CEU's available for the PACP Recertification Course. Click here for the CEU application .

Q: How long is the recertification course? Is it the same whether online or trained by a Master Trainer?

A: The PACP recertification course is 8 hours long, plus an additional 2 hour proctored examination at a testing facility (included in the recertification fee). It is intended to be roughly the same in a classroom course with a Master Trainer, but may vary depending on class size and discussion.

Q: Do I need to complete the online PACP Recertification course all at one time?

A: No. While the online PACP recertification course is intended to take 8 hours, it is done at your own pace. Each module should take 30 minutes to an hour, and there are 9 modules.

Q: What if I fail the test?

A: If you are unable to gain a passing score on the initial test, please call NASSCO to sign up for a retake test. There is a $75 fee to cover the additional proctoring session with Kryterion.

Q: If a User has been certified in the past in PACP and is looking to recertify while also adding new MACP/LACP certification, will they be able to do all three online?

A: Currently only PACP recertification is online. If PACP certification is about to lapse, it's suggested that PACP recertification be done online or through a Master Trainer. If a new MACP/LACP certification is desired, then recertification can be followed by a classroom LACP and/or MACP certification course.

Q: Is the PACP online recertification interactive?

A: While the online training is designed for students to complete modules at there own pace without a live trainer, it includes exercises to reinforce the training, and short quizzes at the end of each module. There is also a forum available for posting questions and answers.

Q: After completing the online training modules, where can I take the proctored examination?

A: NASSCO is working with a company called Kryterion which has many testing locations across the country. A comprehensive list can be found here: www.kryteriononline.com.

Q: What if I am unable to keep my original exam appointment?

A: If you are unable to keep your initial appointment time with Kryterion and it is within a 72 hour period, please call NASSCO to reschedule. Note that there is a $75 cancellation/reschedule fee within that 72 hour window. If you need to reschedule in advance of the 72 hour window, you can login to your account and reschedule online.

Q: If my certification lapses, will I be required to attend the 2-day PACP class again?

A: Yes, if your certification lapses, you will need to attend the training as if a brand new user.

Q: What is the cost of PACP recertification?

A: The cost for NASSCO Members (based on company) is $175 and is $225 for non-members. If a replacement manual is needed, it can be purchased for a reduced rate of $100 plus shipping & handling vs. the standard $150.
